One black and one red, they have been taking turns to follow
their respective dam’s footsteps by winning at the local shows.
The Norolle Gelbvieh
females, apart from one cow family, are an exclusive line of our own
breeding. We blanket mate to one sire each year and we rarely use link
sires. It will, therefore, be a very slow process for our herd to
generate comparative data and for Gelbvieh Group Breedplan to produce
for us meaningful Estimated Breeding Values - EBVs.
Anyone accessing Gelbvieh EBVs should be aware that there is not yet
enough data recorded in Gelbvieh Group Breedplan to produce meaningful
EBVs.
Our experience with Group Breedplan
We joined Poll Hereford Group Breedplan in 1981. The first year's
figures were neither meaningful or relevant. We then downloaded from our
records the 11 previous years of recorded weights for weaning, yearling
and mature growth. This included all calves registered for those years -
sometimes up to 300 per year from our herd of up 700 breeders.
This increased the total number of the Poll Hereford Group Breedplan
figures in Australia by 13% at that time and helped to generate EBVs
that were reasonably relevant and meaningful for our stud.
Eventually, in future years, there will be meaningful EBVs generated
from the raw data Gelbvieh members submit.

She was Grand Champion at Beef '97 at 2 years of age with her

She was soft, red, polled, clean made, sound and very

Sydney Royal Easter Show to Senior and Grand Champion and Runner Up
Interbreed Champion at the 2000 Qld. Royal Show in Brisbane in 16
months. Her win in Brisbane in August 2000 was exceptional.
To be runner up with the Grand Champion Gelbvieh Bull in the Interbreed
Championship Pairs - with 35 breeds exhibited was a tremendous
achievement.
Then she achieved the ultimate aware as 2001 SUPREME CHAMPION FEMALE out of 35 breeds under 24 judges
and winner INTERBREED PAIR with Norolle Absolute Power U77 - Qld. Royal
Show - Brisbane 2001 Champion Gelbvieh Bull.
